Congaree National Park

Congaree National Park is one of the least traveled of the National Park system. I was on a road trip to the Great Smoky Mountains when I saw this park on the map and decided to take a quick detour to visit. Having only a couple hours to explore, I set out on the Boardwalk Loop trail. The park was extraordinarily quiet and I was the only one on the path. Walking among the forest, it was surprising to see how tall all of these trees are. I have plans to dedicate more time to further explore the park. I did learn that visiting in the fall or winter is ideal as the mosquitos are much less prevalent and the temperatures are pleasant.
